Mission Statement

To support the centralized procurement of the material, services and equipment that are essential to providing governmental services for the citizens of Imperial County. Provide dedicated leadership in procurement through effective collaboration, teamwork, training and oversight to ensure a procurement process that is fair, cost effective, efficient and in accordance with Board policy as well as Federal, State, and Local laws.


About the Department

The Purchasing Department is a service department that is responsible for procurement practices for all County departments and agencies. Purchasing staff are charged with ensuring that the County’s process is fair, competitive, and efficient and conducted under clear ethical guidelines. Purchasing activities include developing contracts, request for proposal/quotation, purchase order issuance, procurement card administration, vendor registration and contract compliance.

Purchasing is committed to providing a high level of service for all stakeholders while adhering to all applicable laws, policies and procedures. Facilitate an efficient, time and cost effective process for the procurement of goods and services, which includes resource sources, competitive bidding, agreement development and maintain positive vendor relationships.
